We have talked about the foods that are good for your body and those which are not, but what we haven’t really discussed is eating habits; which are also extremely important.
When you don’t eat for long periods of time you will eat much more when you do eat, and this is not good for your body. You need to eat several times throughout the day, but eat small portions.
Most of us at some point or another get into the habit of sleeping late, not eating breakfast and running off to work. We may even skip lunch because we are too busy. We go home and we are famished. This means we will eat a lot more than if we had eaten normally throughout the day.
Eating a lot one time a day is not better than eating three meals. When we don’t eat all day and then overload all at once our body cannot handle it. When you don’t eat all day then you risk binging out on foods that are unhealthy and fast. This causes your body to absorb unhealthy foods and fats.
The reason your body is asking for this type of food is because it is so hungry and you will reach out for whatever is quickest. You need to eat three to five meals a day and not skip meals. This way your body will be satisfied and you wont be hungry all the time.
When you eat between meals; that is fine, so long as you make your snack a healthy one. A healthy snack can give you the right amount of energy you need.
Eat a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts but whatever you do keep those snacks healthy. Eating fatty foods will make you feel fatigued.
When you space your meals out, you wont feel the need to binge eat. Binge eating can be dangerous. It can elevate or decrease your blood sugar levels. It can make you feel shaky and hungry all the time.
When you just don’t have time to eat right, you can still get the nutrition you need. Make yourself a packed lunch and add a few snacks to keep your energy levels up. Try some cut up vegetables and some fruit.
Plan your meals ahead of time so you will know what to shop for. Keep cut up veggies in the fridge, a few whole grain cereals and breads on hand, keep things ready for when you need them.
Eating right is not difficult when you plan everything out. Get organized and you will see that everything works out fine.
